Terms of use
These terms cover the Sprout Words app and this website. Sprout Words is published by Tiny Tools, operated as a sole proprietorship by Mark Nelson in New Mexico, United States (“we”, “us”). By installing or using Sprout Words, you agree to these terms.
Buying the app
Sprout Words is sold through the Amazon Appstore. Your purchase, payment, downloads, and refunds are handled by Amazon under its terms, which also apply to your use of the app. If these terms and Amazon’s terms conflict about your purchase or license, Amazon’s terms control.
Your purchase includes the app and its built-in word sets and audio, plus the updates we release for it. The app has no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Using the app
- You may use Sprout Words for personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, as allowed by the Amazon Appstore.
- Don’t copy, resell, redistribute, or reverse engineer the app or its content, except where the law allows it.
- Keep the parent PIN private. We can’t recover a forgotten PIN; resetting it clears the app’s saved data.
What the app is, and isn’t
Sprout Words is a practice tool for early readers. It is not a reading assessment, tutoring service, or substitute for a teacher, and we don’t promise any particular learning result. Grade-level labels on word sets are starting points, not placement advice.
Your data
Practice progress and settings are stored only on your device. We don’t back them up, and they are deleted if you clear the app’s data or uninstall it. See the privacy policy.
Ownership
Sprout Words, including its design, mascot, sentences, and audio, is owned by us or used under license. Third-party components are used under their own licenses (for example, the Andika typeface under the SIL Open Font License). The practice word lists are drawn from common, publicly available sight-word vocabulary; we don’t claim ownership of the words themselves. Buying the app gives you a license to use it, not ownership of it.
Disclaimers
We work hard to make Sprout Words reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Sprout Words. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for it. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will apply only to versions released after the update.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where your local consumer law gives you rights that can’t be waived.
